It has been a while sense I had obsessed over the apocalyptic soundscape musicians known as Godspeed You! Black Emperor, however they finally decided to come across the border to our capitalistic wasteland. Although I have moved on in music taste to stoner metal, European folk, and anything psychedelic, this was a great performance. I was extra pleased to see the Jem Cohen film show still with the band which I would imagine would be why it took the band so long to get back on the road. Karl Lemieux was heading the 4 x 8mm camera show where he melted and streamed footage together of a variation of industrial landscapes, sprawling meadows, and pagan imagery. Although at the Godspeed show I was frantically looking for a place to lounge as hard as possible, I found myself standing most of the time to make sure I did not miss a moment of this perfectly matched video show.
I was able to take a video of East Hastings, which everyone should know if not from the band itself but the epic horror film 28 Days Later.
